I primarily report and write, but throughout my career I have also become adept at obtaining public records from state and local agencies using open-records laws. (On my own, for instance, I successfully appealed the Pennsylvania State Police’s refusal to provide me certain unredacted email, text messages, and voicemail, prompting the state’s quasi-judicial tribunal, the Office of Open Records, to order the agency in June 2021 to provide me the records or prove they don’t exist.) If you need help managing a project that hinges on acquiring public records, please feel free to contact me. Feel free to contact me also if you are looking for an editor, researcher, trainer, or speaker. Or feel free to just say hi. I’d love to hear from you.
